Micronesian heritage and language
Micronesia is a pleasant mix of marvelous high islands covered with tropical jungles.
These tropical island paradises have beautiful coral atolls surrounding the picturesque blue-green lagoons.
Inhabitants are predominantly Christians. The inhabitants are mostly either Roman Catholics or Protestants; other churches include the Assembly of God, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Seventh day Adventist, Latter-Day Saints, and the Baha’i faith.
The native languages of the Micronesian diversity are classified under the Austronesian language family. Almost all of these languages belong to the Oceanic subgroup of this family; however, three exceptions are noted in Western Micronesia, which belong to the Western Malayo-Polynesian subgroup: Chamorro and Tanapag in the Mariana Islands, Yapese in the Federated States of Micronesia, and Palauan in Palau.
This latter subgroup also includes the majority of the languages spoken today in the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
